TPO Policy
From Sept. 1, 2025, it will no longer be allowed within the EU to sell nail products containing the substance TPO (Trimethylbenzoyl Diphenylphosphine Oxide). This decision was taken by the European Commission to protect consumers from allergic reactions that can occur when nail products are used improperly.
TPO is a commonly used substance in gels to cure them under a UV/LED lamp. Although this substance is safe when used professionally, the risk increases with the growth of home use without proper knowledge or training.
At Dutch Nail Cosmetics, we focus on professionals and believe it is important that products are used safely and responsibly. Yet these new regulations also affect us by blurring the distinction between professional and home use.
What to expect.
- As of September, all of our products are TPO free;
- We have developed high-quality alternatives that meet the new requirements;
- 75% of our assortment is already TPO- AND HEMA-free and we expect to be completely ready within 8 weeks.
These products are already HEMA- and TPO-free:
- Gel polish;
- Acrylic Gel;
- Builder | Extend Gel;
- Basecoat;
- Shine Topcoat;
- Nails in a Bottle;
- Fineliner Striper.
While we understand the new regulations, we feel it is important to mention that many salons have been using these products safely and professionally for many years. We find the idea that the sales ban and the use ban go into effect on the exact same date not only impractical, but also disproportionate to how professionally and carefully these products have been used in salons for years.
We remain committed to safe and high-quality products, as you have come to expect from us.
Through this link you can view the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and certificates of our products. These documents contain essential ingredient information and help ensure safety and compliance within your professional environment.
If you have any questions or want more information about the new TPO-free formulas, don't hesitate to contact us.
Sincerely,
Team Dutch Nail Cosmetics
